Meet Glenn Pearson

I’ve been a District 1 resident for 9 years, having lived in Parrish and now Ellenton. I know our community’s charm and its problems. I can provide a voice for those who currently do not have one on the BOCC.

I’m driven to help educate and motivate our community to participate in the political process. This is our community, and we should all have a say in how it is governed. Working toward the goal of reaching voters and getting that message out is what I work for every day.

I am a small business owner, operating a financial services company providing health and life insurance along with retirement income strategies. Before becoming a small business owner I had a long career in television. I was a TV news anchor and reporter in several major markets, including Detroit, Hartford, Kansas City, Boston, Orlando and NYC at WNBC. An important part of my job was to hold our elected officials accountable. I’ve seen time and again the negative results of public office holders who ignore the will of their voters. In my career as a journalist, I’ve interacted with people of all walks of life, from the very powerful to those with absolutely nothing, being homeless. The most powerful lesson that I’ve learned through the years is we really do have more in common with one another than we often realize.

I’m hearing the same concerns over infrastructure, the environment and lack of transparency by BOCC members from my neighbors and residents of District 1, regardless of party affiliation. These are nonpartisan issues. I pledge to work in a nonpartisan way to address those concerns. We have a lot of work to do to restore faith in Manatee County government. Together, working across party lines, we can get the job done.

Let’s get after it!
